The St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius is pleased to announce
the 6th International St. Christopher Composers Competition and invites young composers from around the world to submit their works.
Key deadlines:
- Registration deadline: 30 June 2026
- Submission deadline: 31 August 2026
- Announcement of selected finalists: 2 October 2026
- Final Concert and Laureates Announcement: 10 October 2026
About the competition:
The competition aims to discover emerging compositional talent, encourage the creation of new works for chamber orchestra, and give young composers the opportunity to hear their music performed by a professional ensemble.
Final concert and performance opportunity:
Selected finalists’ works will be performed by the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra at the Final Concert on 10 October 2026 at the historic Vilnius Town Hall in Lithuania. Winning compositions will also be considered for inclusion in the orchestra’s 2026–2027 concert season.
Competition details:
- Eligibility: Composers aged 18–40
- Instrumentation: String orchestra: 6 first violins, 5 second violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos, and 1 double bass
- Duration: 5–10 minutes
- Eligible works: Compositions written or performed between 2024 and 2026
- Restriction: Works previously submitted to other composition competitions are not eligible
- Participation: Free of charge
Awards:
- First Prize: €1,500
- Second Prize: €900
- Third Prize: €600
- Additional awards: Special LMIC Prize and Special Orchestra Prize
Application requirements:
Applicants may submit up to three compositions. The submission package should include:
- Score and orchestral parts in PDF format, submitted anonymously
- Demo recording in MP3 format
- A separate Word document containing the applicant’s full name, email address, telephone number, curriculum vitae, and a short biography of the submitted work

The St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, under the artistic direction of Modestas Barkauskas and Honorary Conductor Donatas Katkus, is one of Lithuania’s leading chamber orchestras. Renowned for its stylistic versatility, the orchestra performs repertoire ranging from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary music and regularly presents premieres by Lithuanian and international composers.
