まず、23作の応募作品について精読しレビューを行った。その上で、今回の演奏者によって聴いてみたいと思える作品12曲を残した。次いで、レビューを振り返りつつ消極的な要素がある6作品を候補からはずし、残った6曲について、全てが異なる傾向の作品であること、そして他の同傾向の作品の中で傑出していることを確認した。これらについて出演者のゴーサインを経て、決定に至った。
今回の作曲賞の特別な規定もあって、一般的な作曲賞とは様相の異なる、興味深いラインナップが揃ったと思う。そして本賞は、提出楽譜から本選会までの過程で、いかなるブラッシュアップがなされるかが、作曲家に求められる能力の一部であることを鑑みており、審査段階の印象はコンサート本番で全く変わってしまうことも考えられる。作曲家たちとの協働を通じて、それぞれの描き出す世界をより強固なものにしていくべく演奏に臨みたい。

The theme of the JFC Composers Award 2022 is "Co-creation with instrument players / performers". The six players / performers are previously announced to the Entrants. And the revision by the
co-creation with them is allowed until the last minute before the Final Concert. For this purpose, the Jury is decided to be only one individual and he / she required to assist all the
repetitions / rehearsal, or even appear himself / herself on the stage, so that he / she could check the revision would not excess the limit.
And the composer him / herself also is allowed to join the stage. Actually, two composers are expected to join their own stages.

First, I screened the twenty-three candidate works. And picked up the twelve pieces to which I liked to listen with the decided specific instrument players /
performers.
Then once again , I reviewed them and removed the six works in which I found some negative factors. And regarding the selected six works, I confirmed that they were incredibly unique
and outstanding out of all the entry works. And with approval from the instrument players / performers, the decision was made.
As Application Requirements for this year of the JFC Composers Award were so specific, all those nominated six works are unique and remarkably interesting to which you could never
listen in any other composers' awards / competitions. And the revision, that would be made in process from the submission of the scores until the last moment of the stage, is subject to
judge, as ability to cope with them could be one of the good composers' qualifications. The impressions of the scores would be totally different when they are presented on the stage. I expect
the instrument players / performers to try their best to express the composers' visions through the Co-creation with them.
